FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
FRED RAMOS JOINS AIRWAYS FREIGHT
CORPORATION
FAYETTEVILLE – Airways Freight
Corporation is pleased to announce that Fred Ramos has joined the company.
Ramos has been involved in the international freight industry for nearly 30
years, spending the last 12 years of his career as a licensed U.S. Customs
Broker. His extensive experience in this field will be utilized to create a
fully licensed Customs Brokerage for Airways Freight, which will allow
increased efficiency, lower costs, and better control of the U.S. Customs
clearance process. Whether cleared in-house, or through the current network of
customs brokers, the additional control gained through the leadership of Fred
Ramos will ensure compliance with Federal Regulations, as well as create a
seamless flow for import shipments. The added benefit for Airways Freight’s
clients will be a direct line of communication to address any Customs
challenge, and provide consultation that will both create savings, and reduce
or eliminate service issues related to clearing goods imported to the U.S..
Ramos’ oversight will ensure that Customs penalties are avoided due to improper
Importer Security Filings (ISF, aka “10+2”). When needed, a filing for “Binding
Rulings” will secure the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) number and customs
duty rate for importers of certain products – thereby restricting Customs from
demanding additional duties at a later date. Ramos will work to expand the
Customs Brokerage services Airways provides further through a capability to
write Customs bonds for importers, which will serve as a tool to control costs,
as well as a monitoring mechanism for the activity of the importer while their
goods are in the U.S.. Airways Freight Corporation employs 90 people at their
headquarters, and has over 250 independent sales agents worldwide. The
corporation was founded in 1980 and is privately held. For more information,
visit www.airwaysfreight.com or contact Fred Ramos at 479.442.6301 or via
e-mail at fredr@airwaysfreight.com.

Devin Scroggins is promoted to
Director of Domestic Operations
FAYETTEVILLE – It’s
been said that a true testament to an individual’s character may be observed in
their daily work ethic. For the eighteen years of his tenure with Airways,
Devin Scroggins has been a credit to this statement – and to the company he has

or what is asked of him is what others recognize as Devin’s trademark. As such,
it is with great pleasure that Airways announces the promotion of Devin
Scroggins to Director of Operations. He will remain at the helm of the Nuclear
Utilities Division. In addition, Scroggins’ responsibilities will be increased
in the area of operations. With his vast knowledge in all areas of specialized

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Dallas based Agent earns IAEE Award
The International Association of
Exhibitions and Events has awarded Gary Tolbert, CEM their Merit Award. Given
annually to those IAEE members deserving recognition for their ideas and/or
work – particularly at the local/chapter level that benefits IAEE as an
organization in some special way, the 2008 Merit Award was shared by Tolbert
with two other industry professionals. Carrie Freeman Parsons, the IAEE Awards
Committee chair stated, “We are fortunate to honor individuals and
organizations who represent the best of our industry.”
Also fortunate is Airways Freight, a
member organization of IAEE, to have a long affiliation with Gary Tolbert, and
his company Event Freight Group. Since 2000, Airways has been providing
operational support to EFG and the exhibit freight sales produced by Tolbert
and his team. Hal Poole, the Vice President for Trade Show operations for
Airways says, “Gary Tolbert is certainly one of the big reasons for the success
and reputation we enjoy in the trade show industry. We are extremely proud of
his accomplishments, and in particular the recognition he has received as
IAEE’s Merit Award recipient.”
The International Association of
Exhibitions and Events, established in 1928, is the largest association of the
exhibitions and events industry in the world, and is primarily devoted to
providing leadership, education and service to show organizers, exhibitors, and
exhibition suppliers. As stated by Gary Tolbert, “Through my relationship with
IAEE and particularly the CEM program, I have learned how to better assist
exhibition executives and their organizations. Freight is low on the priority
list for most Exhibit Managers, but I'm fortunate to work with some of the most
knowledgeable people in the business. IAEE has helped me learn how to help
them. I am honored to be recognized by such a prestigious organization."

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
No Time for Losing Your Cool
$10 million is a loss most companies
could not endure - particularly if the loss came in a single moment. A medical
research company is no exception. That’s why Airways was asked to help this
company prepare shipments of serums and stem cells valued at millions in
cryogenically controlled containers, and carefully transport them to another
facility. Joe Pavone is an independent Airways Agent, and owner of ShipCritical
Inc. Joe is accustomed to the “unusual” when it comes to shipping. It may be
supervising an ultra high-dollar Maybach automobile’s transport via giant
helicopter from the deck of the Queen Elizabeth II in New York Harbor to a
high-profile unveiling on Wall Street, or making sure a giant wheel of cheese
doesn’t melt during shipping in the summer heat. Or it could be managing
anatomical specimens moving to a research event in Amsterdam. So when Joe got
the call on shipping stem cells used for the cure of a variety of medical
conditions, he went to work immediately consulting on matters ranging from
splitting the shipping into several simultaneous loads to minimize risk of a
single catastrophic loss, to meticulously strapping and securing the sensitive
scientific equipment on-board the transport vehicles. Once the details were
ironed out, Pavone flew in to supervise. The product was placed in 14 separate
freezers containing liquid nitrogen designed to maintain a constant temperature
of -189 degrees Fahrenheit. Once the freezers were unplugged, the clock started
ticking. Any variation in temperature would result in a total loss of the
product. Precise timing was essential at every phase of the move. With Joe
doing the on-site supervision, Erik Fortin was hard at work in operations back
at Airways’ headquarters coordinating everything from pinpointed truck arrivals
to ensuring each truck included all logistics needed for packing. With remote
communication on-going at all times, the shipment was ultimately delivered
flawlessly, and another company can now rest easy in the knowledge that
everything is “very cool” when Airways is involved.
